Our History

The development of Sunset Memorial Park, Funeral Home, and Crematory fulfilled a long-held dream of Robert and Toni Byrd. Established in 1994, Sunset Cemetery had its first burial in April of that year. Much has changed since then, but the emphasis on compassionate funeral planning at an affordable cost has not.

After selling Byrd Funeral Home in 1995, Robert and Toni endeavored to build the most comprehensive funeral planning experience in the Wiregrass. With the completion of the chapel, visitation parlors and reception center in 2009, the vision was realized. Families partnering with Sunset now have all of their arrangement options available in one convenient location.

The beautiful grounds at Sunset Memorial Park, Funeral Home and Crematory include gravesites, mausoleums and niche banks. The site’s Garden of Valor and Freedom Park are specifically designed to honor veterans. Combined with the facility’s other amenities, and its experienced staff, Sunset has an unmatched ability to assist you and your family during a difficult time.
