Sunset Memorial Park presents the 17th Annual Wiregrass Memorial Day Ceremony, a day of remembrance of the lives and sacrifices of our veterans and celebration of the freedoms they fought to preserve. Starting at 10 AM, bring your family and friends to Sunset Memorial Park to enjoy the personal stories of our keynote speaker, US Army combat veteran Thom Tran, who received a Purple Heart for his service in Iraq. Observe a cannon-firing detail with taps, in addition to a flower-laying ceremony, in honor of our military personnel whose service made this day possible. A free picnic lunch will also be provided to attendees. We invite you to join us as we pay tribute to our fallen heroes and remember the sacrifices they made for our freedoms.
A first-generation American immigrant, turned American soldier, combat veteran, and now a professional touring stand-up comedian, Thom Tran turned a literal lifetime of war and tragedy into a successful comedy career. On April 3, 2003, his 4th day in Iraq, during a gunfight Thom was struck in the back of the head by a sniper’s bullet. Since starting his comedy career, Thom created the GIs of Comedy tour, a group of combat veterans turned stand-up comedians.
When the time comes and tough choices must be made, someone from our Sunset family will connect with you every step of the way. We will carefully explain your options, guide you through the decisions and make recommendations at your request.
Sunset Memorial Park is a combination funeral home, cemetery, and crematory. This means your loved one remains in our care from the time we receive them until you say your final goodbyes. Our grounds and facility are immaculately kept. We truly feel it is the perfect setting for celebrating life and leaving a legacy.
The development of Sunset Memorial Park, Funeral Home, and Crematory fulfilled a long-held dream of Robert and Toni Byrd. Established in 1994, Sunset Cemetery had its first burial in April of that year. Much has changed since then, but the emphasis on compassionate funeral planning at an affordable cost has not.
You are welcome to call us any time of the day, any day of the week, for immediate assistance. Or, visit our funeral home in person at your convenience.
