Wiregrass Memorial Day 20th Anniversary
You’re invited to the 20th Anniversary of the Wiregrass Memorial Day Ceremony, a special milestone as we gather to remember and honor our fallen heroes.
We are privileged to welcome John Wayne Walding to share his story. Born on the 4th of July, SFC (R) John Wayne Walding embodies the very heart of American resilience. During the brutal Battle of Shok Valley, John lost his leg to sniper fire yet continued to fight alongside his brothers for four more hours—an act of gallantry that earned him the Silver Star and Purple Heart. Refusing to let his injury define his limits, he became the first amputee in history to graduate as a Green Beret Sniper and has since conquered marathons and mountains alike. Today, he channels that same "Lean Forward, Fight Hard" spirit into leading his company, Gallantry Global Logistics, and inspiring others to find their next mission. Listen as a true American hero shares his powerful journey of leadership, sacrifice, and the unbreakable will to overcome.
The morning will also be filled with meaningful tributes, including a cannon-firing detail, a helicopter flyover, and the opportunity to personally honor our veterans by placing flowers on over 1,000 graves.
Following the ceremony, we hope you’ll join us for lunch and a time of community fellowship. It’s a day for us to come together, reflect, and ensure the service of our veterans is never forgotten.
