Wallace Sanders Obituary

Dr. Wallace Alvin Sanders of Dothan, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2023, in Barbour County, Alabama. Born on March 14, 1951, in Alabama, Wallace was a pillar of strength and inspiration to his family, friends, and community throughout his 72 years of life.

Wallace is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Skipper Sanders; his children, Glenn Sanders, Danny Sconyers, Sean Sanders, Brian Sconyers (Allison), Heather Sanders Levengood (Jereme), Jeremiah Sanders, Chris Felton; his son-in-law, Mike Pennington; his grandchildren, Lauren Jade Sanders, Levin Sconyers, Jackson "Jack" Sconyers, Avery Sconyers, Jazmine Levengood, Jaden Levengood, Ralls Pennington, and Rabon Pennington-Wilson; his brother, Larry (Debbie) Sanders; loving family friend, Darrell Raulerson; and his loyal K-9 companion, Ryker. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Alvin and Lillie Cooper Sanders, and his daughter, Patti "Peyton" Pennington.

A graduate of Slocomb High School in 1969, Wallace continued his education at Troy University and later obtained his Doctorate at Palmer College of Chiropractic. For 30 years, he owned and practiced as a chiropractor at Sanders Chiropractic Clinic, where he was well-respected and admired by his patients and colleagues alike. Wallace treasured his patients, which he continued his relationship with even after retirement.

Wallace was a man of deep faith, and he loved his family beyond measure. He was an active member of Rehobeth Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and on various church committees. His love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life, and he was a shining example for others to follow.

An avid outdoorsman, Wallace enjoyed hunting, especially with his wife, Patsy. They shared many cherished memories and adventures together in the great outdoors. Wallace also loved traveling with his family, creating unforgettable moments that will be treasured forever.

Described as loving, faith-filled, and adventurous, Wallace was a beacon of light to everyone he encountered. He had a zest for life, an unwavering faith in God, and a heart full of love and compassion. As the famous quote by Maya Angelou goes, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Wallace's impact on the lives of those around him will be remembered for generations to come.

A celebration of Wallace's life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, April 28, 2023 at Rehobeth Baptist Church, where family and friends can gather to remember and honor the incredible man he was. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. His legacy of love, faith, and adventure will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rehobeth Baptist Church building fund.
