Thomas Scott Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Scott Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023, in Dothan, AL, just shy of his 85th birthday. Born on October 30, 1938, in Borneville, Ohio, Tom was a man known for his kindness, selflessness, and love for his family.

Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Judy Scott, who he met at church and was the love of his life. Together, they raised a beautiful family, instilling in them the values of hard work, love, and kindness. Tom is also survived by his daughters, Traci Scott, Tammy Scott (Karen Merriman), Violet Scott, Julie Walker (Danny). He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy and pride. Tom is also survived by his brother, Rocky Lee Scott (Shelly), and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly and Cora Scott; his son, Thomas "Tommy" Kelly Scott, Jr.; sister, Patricia Ann Rose; and brother-in-law, Bill Rose.

Tom served his country as an Air Force veteran for 4 years. He eventually went on to work at Great Southern Lumber and later moved on to Teledyne in Abbeville, AL, where he retired after years of dedicated service. Tom was a hardworking man, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. In 1977, Tom and Judy moved to Abbeville, AL, where they created a loving home filled with laughter and love, and later moved to Dothan, AL.

In his spare time, Tom enjoyed camping at Dunlap Farms in Ohio, a tradition he started with his family that brought them closer together. He also loved fishing with his girls, always ready to bait their hooks and release their catches, a pastime that allowed him to share his love for nature with his children. Tom was a fan of Western movies, often spending his weekends watching his favorite classics. He also took great pride in maintaining a beautiful yard, often seen tending to his garden and plants.

Tom was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. He was a loving husband, a kind father, and a selfless friend. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, from working hard to provide for them to spending quality time with them. He was a pillar of strength for his family, always there to offer support and love. Tom's life was a testament to his kindness and selflessness. He lived his life with a quiet dignity, always putting others before himself. His legacy of love and kindness will live on in his family, who will always remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
