Shirley Belcher Obituary

Shirley K. Belcher, 82, passed away on November 6, 2021, in Graceville, Florida following an extended illness.

Mrs. Belcher was born December 19, 1938, in Hinsonton, Georgia to Joseph Andrew and Bertha Lee Kelly. She grew up in Pelham, Georgia with three sisters. She married the late Jesse Albert Belcher in 1976. She graduated from Pelham High School in Pelham, GA.

She and her husband enjoyed square dancing and cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs. Shirley had a lifelong passion for music which she shared with her children. She was the pianist for Lafayette Street United Methodist Church in Dothan, Alabama for many years.

Mrs. Belcher was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and loved all her family dearly.

Shirley is survived by daughters Marcia Scobie of Daleville, Alabama and Laurie Sellers (Charles Jr.) of Wicksburg, Alabama; son David Barfield (Kerri) of Graceville, Florida; grandchildren Christopher Vickers, Ozark, AL; Nathan Scobie, Dothan, AL; Andrew Barfield, Duncan, SC; Lance Hughes (Dena Hickman); Paul Scobie, Kristen Barfield, Emily Barfield, Wicksburg, AL; Austin Sellers (Maggie), Hartford, AL; sisters June O'Steen, Blountville, TN; Nancy Council, Bainbridge, GA; 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Jesse Albert Belcher and sister Joanne Brewer.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Signature Healthcare of North Florida in Graceville for their special care of Mrs. Belcher during her time there.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday November 9, 2021, at 1 P.M. at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with the Reverend Tim Morris presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be sent in Shirley's memory to Signature Healthcare of North Florida, 1083 Sanders Avenue, Graceville, Florida 32440.

Psalm 91:2 - I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."
