Ray Miller Obituary

Ray Miller, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at his residence. He was 91.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 11:00 am in Sunset Funeral Home chapel with Minister Stuart Tullis officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.

Ray was born on May 3, 1931 in Munford, Alabama to James and Leila Thompson Miller. He served in the military during the Korean War from 1950-1954. Ray was the founder and president of IAM Credit Union. In 1994, he retired from DynCorp at Fort Rucker as an aircraft and helicopter inspector for forty years. Ray was an active member of Honeysuckle Road Congregation as director of worship and assemblies and was a deacon for many years. His greatest loves was for his Lord and his family. His most famous saying was "I ask the Lord for a certain thing and I could look and see where the Lord had answered in his own way."

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, James O. Miller and Leila Miller; his first wife of 53 years, Betty Sue Smith Miller; his son, Johnny Ray Miller; his brothers, Dr. Rex Miller, Richard Miller and Ralph Miller; and his sister, Mary Ellen Conner.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Lula Myrl Miller; his sons, Larry (Tina) Miller, Gary (Lisa) Miller and Brent (Lora) Miller; his step-children, Gail Ramsey, Dale (Beverlye) Lutrell, Jeff Lutrell and Eric (Tina) Lutrell; his grandchildren, Kristina Heming, Malissa Creamer, Jonathan Miller, Jason Miller, Robbie Miller and Elisabeth Hoole; several great-grandchildren; his brothers, Randy (Angie) Miller, Ronald (Kathrine) Miller and Rodney (Janice) Miller; his sisters, Betty (Terry) Curren and Katherine Spotts; and several nieces and nephews.
