June Carolyn (Buckelew) Siscel

June Carolyn Buckelew Siscel of Dothan, Ala., went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 10, 2023.

June married the love of her life Willard Lawrance Siscel on Dec. 19, 1981, in Huntsville, Ala. Will and June lived in Huntsville before retiring and moving to Guntersville for life on the lake and Dothan throughout their four decades of marriage. June enjoyed arts and crafts, cooking, fishing, playing cards, camping, and spending time with family, friends, and pets. She had a smile that could light up a room and was known for her caring personality.

June was an active member at Harvest Church where she loved gathering with her Foundations small group. She led WMU for many years and was also involved with the Motor Corp, Women's Pilot International and Emmaus.

June was born June 28, 1940, in Horton, Ala., to Thomas Jackson Buckelew and Margaret Hattie Bartlett Buckelew of Boaz, Ala. She graduated from Boaz High School in 1958 and Jacksonville State in 1962. She was a home economics and science teacher and guidance counselor in Madison County from 1962 to 1991.

June is preceded in death by parents Thomas Buckelew and Margaret Buckelew, brother Billy Jack Buckelew and sister-in-law Betty Culver Buckelew. She is survived by her husband, Willard Siscel, siblings Richard Lynn Buckelew, Thomas Kerry and Connie Buckelew, and Rachael and Bobby Swann, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of June's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Anderson officiating. The family will receive friend at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 - 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be mailed to Harvest Church: 2727 Fortner Street Dothan, AL 36305.
