Joseph Abraham Obituary

Joseph Abraham, better known as "Hawaiian Joe," was born on May 14th, 1945, in the tropical paradise of Honolulu, Hawaii. He brought the spirit of Aloha with him when he moved to Dothan, Alabama, where he passed away on May 18th, 2023, following an extended illness. But let's not focus on the sad part, because Joe wouldn't want that. Instead, let's celebrate the life of this fun-loving, selfless, and thoughtful man who brightened up the lives of everyone he met.

Joe graduated Radford High School in Hawaii and eventually found his way to Georgia Pacific, where he worked for 15 years before retiring. You might say he was an expert in the art of "paper pushing." But work was only a small part of Joe's life. He was a man of many interests, with a particular passion for singing karaoke. And boy, could he belt out a tune! There's no doubt that Joe's performances brought smiles and laughter to many faces, whether he was singing "Tiny Bubbles" or "Sweet Caroline."

When it came to his Ohana, Joe's love knew no bounds. He is survived by his daughter Juanita Abraham, son Johnathan "John" (Melissa) Abraham, daughter Barbara Abraham (Al Hudson), and grandchildren Emily (Edward) Kalil, Katelyn Abraham, Alex Anderson, Austin (Katelyn) Anderson, Victoria (James) Flett, and Cameron (Lexi) Mims. Joe was also blessed with six great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. His Ohana extended even further, with three brothers residing in Hawaii, one sister in Oregon, his deceased parents Aurino Abraham and Julia Aikala Abraham, and the late Barbara Carol James, the mother of his children.

Joe was a man who put others before himself, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. He had a knack for making people feel special, and his selflessness was evident in everything he did. As the great comedian Robin Williams once said, "No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world." Joe took this to heart, using his humor and positivity to make a difference in the lives of those around him.

In his later years, Joe continued to spread laughter and love, even as he fought his illness. He remained the life of the party, never missing an opportunity to make someone smile or share a funny story. He was a true inspiration to us all, showing that no matter what life throws at you, it's important to maintain your sense of humor and keep smiling.

So let us remember Joe not for his passing but for the many moments of joy he brought to our lives. In the words of another beloved comedian, Bob Hope, "I've always been in the right place and time. Of course, I steered myself there." Joe steered himself into our hearts, and that's where he'll stay.

Aloha, Hawaiian Joe. You will be missed, but your spirit of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those you touched.
