Earnestine Woods Obituary

Earnestine Woods, a resident of Dothan, AL passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021. She was 78.

A loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Earnestine Woods lived a full life surrounded by the people and things she loved. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed being outside in her yard doing work she said was never complete. She met the lord at a young age and invited him to use her to speak to others through her everyday life. She was a very giving person and enjoyed helping everyone she met.

Growing up in a large family, her parents had a very creative naming process for their daughters, Pauline, Geraldine, Betty Jean, Noreen, Jeanne, Maxine and Earnestine, gave each an indescribable bond that was filled with great times together and lasting memories. Along with brothers William (Willy), Bill and Randy their family was always overflowing with love.
For much of her adult life, she was a single mother with an inspiring drive to provide. Growing up on a farm, filled with long days and plenty of hard work, this provided her a very strong work ethic that later enabled her the opportunity to provide for herself and son (Tim). Her hard work, often working multiple jobs at one time, allowed her to create a life she was very proud of. She retired from General Electric after 33 years of service, with not missing a single day of work throughout her entire career.

After retirement she enjoyed traveling abroad and built an even larger network of friends, she often referred to as her extended family. She loved to share her experiences and would even take an extra suitcase on her travels to bring back plenty of gifts once she returned. She often commented how blessed she felt to be able to travel with friends to see other parts of the world. While traveling abroad was enjoyable, her favorite destination was Panama City Beach. She often said, the lord created the beach, ocean and each sunrise and sunset for us to reflect on his dedication. No trip was complete to the beach without returning with a bucket of seashells. She often said, being able to share this with her grandchildren (Tyler & Mahaley) was the greatest gift she has ever received.

Anyone that met Earnestine, quickly identified she was a very giving person you could count on regardless of the situation or time of day. While life often wasn't perfect, she strived to find the best in each situation and refused to dwell on anything negative. Her love and dedication to others has been passed on to each person she encountered throughout her life's journey. While missed dearly she will never be forgotten.
Earnestine was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, William Jones, Pauline Hamm, Randy Jones and Betty Jean Singletary.

Survivors include her son, Timothy (wife Roxanne) Woods and grandchildren Tyler and Mahaley Woods; siblings, Geraldine Hall, Noreen Whitestone, Jeanne (husband Randall) Tew, Maxine (husband Craig) Martin and Bill Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
