Dr. Sammy R. Banner Obituary
Dr. Sammy R. Banner, 71, a resident of Dothan passed away on Tuesday April 5, 2022 at his home.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3 pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 in the Chapel at Harvest Church with Pastor Keith Frith officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 2-3 pm. At Dr. Banner's request, friends and family should wear casual attire, no dark colors please.
Dr. Banner was born on October 25, 1950 in Kirksville, Missouri and lived there the early years of his life. He was in the ROTC in college and served in the US Army for 9 years, serving as a physician, and was a Major before being honorably discharged. Dr. Banner has practiced medicine in Dothan since 1989 and opened his own practice in 1995, Nathanael Medical Center, where he worked until his recent illness. He was a caring physician who always took the time to listen to his patients. Dr. Banner loved the outdoors and especially loved to go hunting. He attended Harvest Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Banner; his children, Lee, Dan, Jerry, Lori, Monica, and Rachel; his nine grandchildren; his brothers, Dr. Ralph Banner and Dr. James Banner; and several nieces and nephews.
