Obituary

David Lloyd Grantham, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on September 4, 2023, in Ozark, Alabama. Born on March 7, 1950, in Eugene, Oregon, David was known for his adventurous spirit, intelligence, and selflessness.

David was the son of the late Joseph and Rosa Standeford Grantham. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 37 years, Lyn Holman Grantham, his brother, Kenneth Grantham, and his grandson Tanner Grantham. David is survived by his loving sons, David R. Grantham, Joey Grantham (Jaime), and Ben Grantham, his adored grandchildren, Paityn, Easton, and Connor Grantham, his precious great-granddaughter, Mia Grantham, and his caring sister, Carol Smith (Ed). His memory will also be treasured by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

David's dedication to his country was evident in his 21-year service as a Warrant Officer in the Army. He was the recipient of numerous accolades, including the Overseas Service Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Air Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Master Aviator Badge, and Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Service Star. His courageous spirit and unwavering commitment to his duty were admired by all who served alongside him.

Aside from his distinguished military service, David had an insatiable love for travel. His adventurous nature led him down many roads, exploring the far reaches of the country he so proudly served. His family and friends fondly remember him as a jokester, always ready with a quip or a story to lighten the mood and bring a smile to everyone's face.

David's life was one of service, not only to his country but also to his family and friends. He was a dedicated husband for 37 years, a role he cherished until his beloved Lyn's passing. As a father, he instilled in his sons the values of resilience and selflessness. His grandchildren will remember him as a loving grandfather who always had a tale to tell or a joke to share.

David Lloyd Grantham will be remembered as a man of incredible strength, resilience, and humor. His love for his family, dedication to his country, and passion for adventure will continue to inspire all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, serving as a beacon of courage, selflessness, and love.

As we mourn the loss of David, we also celebrate his remarkable life. His legacy will forever be a testament to a life well-lived, marked by service, love, and an unquenchable thirst for adventure. Funeral services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Midland City, Alabama on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 10:00 am with Military Honors to follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
