Obituary

Curtis Joe Adams, known affectionately to family and friends as Curtis, died on August 24, 2023, at Wesley Place in Dothan, Alabama, following an extended illness. Born on April 6, 1960, in Missouri, Curtis was the youngest sibling born to Howard and Vona Payne Adams. His passing is deeply felt by a close circle of family and friends who remember him as a faith-filled, selfless, and loving individual.

Curtis was a man who put others before himself. He was always more concerned about those around him than about his own needs. He was a devout follower of Christ and an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Dothan. His unwavering faith was an inspiration to all who knew him and a testament to his character. His sister, Kimberly (Rodney) Bolin, said, "Curtis's faith was the cornerstone of his life. It was what guided him and gave him strength."

An avid reader, Curtis loved to lose himself in the pages of a good book. He had a particular interest in ancestry, frequently researching his family's history and lineage.
Curtis was also a dedicated sports fan. He held a lifelong loyalty to the Kansas City Chiefs and was an ardent supporter of Auburn. His love for the game was infectious, and he was known to bring people together over a good match.

Above all, Curtis was a man who was loved by all and had no enemies. He had a knack for making people feel comfortable and valued. His infectious laughter and kind heart made him a beloved figure in his community. As author Mark Twain once said, "Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." This quote exemplified Curtis's life as he was always ready to lend a helping hand and spread joy wherever he went.

Survivors include his brother, Mike (Teresa) Adams and his sister, Kimberly (Rodney) Bolin, Curtis also leaves behind many other loved ones who will miss him dearly. His legacy of love, selflessness, and faith will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Curtis Joe Adams will be remembered as a beacon of kindness and faith in his community. His selfless nature, love for others, and unwavering faith are lessons that will continue to guide those who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will forever be a reminder to prioritize kindness, love, and faith in our lives.

A celebration of Curtis' life will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2 pm.
