Willie Howard Blue, Jr., affectionately known as Bill, passed away on February 9, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 12, 1952, in Opp, Alabama, Bill was a lifelong resident of Dothan whose presence greatly enriched the lives of those around him. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 30 years, Elaine Blue, and a loving father to his children, Olin Blue, Kristy (Chad) Cook, and Karla Carpenter.
Bill's legacy continued through his grandchildren, Kaitlynn (John) Carpenter, Regan (DJ) Salter, and Ansley (Axl) Carpenter, and his great-grandson, Jonah Conrad Salter, who all knew him as the adoring "Poppie." He also leaves behind his sister, Susan Blue, and host of loving nieces and nephews also survive, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Howard Blue, Sr. and Ann Maddox Blue, and by his son, Conan Blue.
A man of faith and intellect, Bill was a devout Christian who lived by the principles of the Bible, which he read daily. His intelligence shone through in every aspect of his life, from his thoughtful conversations to his problem-solving skills at work. For more than 30 years, Bill was a dedicated employee at Alabama Electric, where his hardworking nature and reliability were highly valued until his passing.
Bill's passion for life was evident in his interests. He was a true sports enthusiast who loved all teams, but his loyalty primarily lay with Auburn, a devotion that only shifted to include Alabama after marrying Elaine. His love for the game was infectious, and many cherished memories were created while cheering on his favorite teams with family and friends.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Plummer officiating. The service will honor a man who was the epitome of faith-filled, intelligent, and loving. Bill will be laid to rest at Memory Hill Cemetery, where his spirit will continue to watch over us. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 am, offering a time to share stories and remember a life lived to the fullest.
Bill's impact on the world was immeasurable, and his absence will be deeply felt. However, the memories of his unwavering love, his steadfast faith, and his joyful embrace of life's moments will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Bill Blue was a beacon of light in the lives of his loved ones, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
