Susie was born on December 18, 1950, in Dothan, Alabama, to James Wiley and Bessie Neal. She peacefully departed this life on February 26, 2026.
At an early age, Susie moved with her family to Tampa, Florida, where she was raised and educated in the Hillsborough County School District. She graduated from Blake High School and went on to build a life rooted in love, faith, and dedication to family. After marrying the love of her life, Steve Danzie, she returned to her hometown of Dothan, Alabama, where she remained until her passing.
Susie was a devoted and hardworking woman who faithfully served as a manager at Hardee’s for 30 years before retiring. She was admired for her strong work ethic, warm smile, and the genuine care she showed to coworkers and customers alike. Outside of her career, Susie was especially known for her exceptional cake baking. Her delicious, beautifully crafted cakes graced countless celebrations throughout Dothan, bringing joy to individuals, families, and local restaurants. Baking was more than a talent—it was her way of sharing love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Wiley and Bessie Neal; her brothers, Freddie Lee Neal Sr., David Lee Neal, Plum Roy Neal, James Wiley Neal, Henry Lee Neal, Johnny Neal, Simon Lee Neal, and Raymond Neal Sr.; her sisters, Josie Neal, Everlyn Glover, and Bessie Neal-Edwards; and her beloved son, Shane Christopher Danzie.
Susie leaves to cherish her precious memories two sons, Stephen Rydell Danzie (Veronica) and Shawn Avery Danzie; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Lasey Danzie; grandchildren, RahShawn Kimoore Danzie, Samarah Christine Danzie, Silas Amari Danzie, and Destinee Queen; one great-grandchild, Mateo Grayson Loveria Danzie; one sister, Luvenia Hatten; three sisters-in-law, Mattie Neal, Cheryl Neal, and Ruthie Neal; several special nieces and nephews; three devoted friends, Shelia Patterson, Geraldine Foster, and Stephanie Reeves; along with a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Susie will be remembered for her loving heart, generous spirit, unwavering strength, and the sweetness she brought into the lives of everyone she encountered. Her legacy of love, family devotion, and kindness will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 11am in the Sunset Memorial Park Chapel with Minister Helen Neal officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, at the funeral home from 4pm until 6pm.
