Steven Allen Marchman, age 70, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on August 10, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama. He was born on May 29, 1956, in Dothan, Alabama, and lived a life marked by kindness, selflessness, and a genuine love for the people and things that mattered most to him.

Steven was a simple man in the truest sense of the word, and those who knew him will remember him for his steady presence, his warm conversations, and the way he made others feel welcome. He never met a stranger and was always willing to stop and talk with anyone he encountered. His easygoing nature and sincere interest in others left a lasting impression on family, friends, neighbors, and acquaintances alike. He was the kind of man who believed in helping where he could, and he often did so quietly, without seeking recognition.

Growing up, Steven spent time working on the farm with his father, an experience that helped shape his strong work ethic and practical outlook on life. Those early years taught him the value of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance, lessons he carried with him throughout his life. He later built a long career as a mechanic at a Chevrolet dealership and eventually served as a manager, working in communities from Panama City, Florida, to Columbus, Georgia. He took pride in his work and was respected for his knowledge, dependability, and ability to get the job done right.

Steven had a lifelong interest in drag racing and enjoyed working on his cars. He appreciated the skill, patience, and attention to detail that came with mechanical work, and he found satisfaction in understanding how things worked and making them run well. His love for automobiles was more than a hobby. It was a part of who he was and reflected the hands-on, hardworking spirit that defined his life.

At home, Steven found companionship and comfort in his two dogs, Buddy and Sissy, who were dear to him. He cared deeply for them and enjoyed their loyal presence in his daily life. He also found joy in the simple pleasures of life and valued time spent in familiar surroundings with the people and animals he loved. His life was not measured by grand gestures, but by the steady goodness he showed every day.

Steven is survived by his sister, Norma Collins; brother, Billy Ray Marchman; his nephews, Mark Skipper and his wife Karen, and Mike Skipper and his wife Tiffany; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also remembered by extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory and the many ways he touched their lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred Marchman.

In Steven's honor, the family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 10am until 11am.
