Ouida Marie Young was born on September 4, 1948, in Selma, Alabama, and passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama.
She attended High school in Selma, Alabama. Ouida spent much of her life in Selma before living for a time in Selmer, Tennessee. She later settled in Prattville, Alabama, where she lived for more than 25 years, and most recently resided in Eufaula.
Ouida worked for many years as a manager at Lowe’s in Prattville, where she particularly enjoyed working in the lawn and garden department. She was knowledgeable in gardening and took pride in helping customers. Above all, she valued time spent with her family.
In her spare time, Ouida enjoyed painting, gardening, and crafting items for her thrift store crafting community.
She is survived by her children, Teresa Marie Flemons, Rachel Louise (Bill Jones) Armstrong, and Pam Renee Kirkland; her grandchildren, Teala Marie Goff, Rebecca (Lupe) Padron, Shannon (Kane) Moseley, Stan Sydney Armstrong, Jamee (William) Louise Garcia, James Edward Betten, and Sgt. Dallas Matthew (Kelsey) Betten; and her great-grandchildren, Raegyn Goff, Griffyn Conte, Rhoslyn Conte, Andres Padron, Isabella Anna Marie Padron, Auriella Fern Mosley, Alora Betten, Abigail Betten, Makayla Marie Betten, and Makenzie Grace Betten.
She is also survived by her siblings, William “Bill” Pardue, Mary Manning, Kathy Pardue, and Charlotte Weaver.
Ouida was preceded in death by her parents, Frances Pardue and Marie Hicks Pardue; and her loving fur baby, Candy.
A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Prattville Memorial Gardens in Prattville, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in honor of her life.
