Misty Lynn Hawkins, a special treasure to everyone who knew her, passed away on May 28, 2024 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. She was 42 years old. She was born August 26, 1981 in Dothan, Alabama to her parents, Faye (Bowen) and Donald Hawkins. Her sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew and cherished her.

Misty graduated from Ashford High in 1999 and has been attending school at Vivian B. Adams School.

Misty was a vibrant spirit who illuminated every room she entered, infusing each moment with her playful energy. She enjoyed dining out, bowling, and going to the movies, especially if it meant spending time with her loved ones. She had a deep love for Thunder Beach, where she could watch the motorcycles and feel the sun on her face. She loved to be in the water and spent countless summers in her swimming pool. Her passion for music, particularly Alan Jackson, filled her days with joy, and she loved to sing and dance along to the music. She was a selfless soul who never met a stranger, extending her love and care to everyone she encountered. Misty's boundless love and unwavering kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.

Misty is survived by her mother, Faye Johnson (Johnny Shelley), and by her father, Donald Hawkins (Brenda). She leaves behind two brothers, Kevin Hawkins (Natesha) and Adam Hawkins (Sarah), and her extended siblings, Robyn Farmer, Beth Shelley, Tabitha Smith, and Chauncey Philpot (Amanda); Nephews, Jacob Hawkins, Hunter Hawkins, Chase Hawkins, Landon Elder, Cole Abercrombie (Sierra), Braylon Smith, and great nieces and nephews, Cipri and Rylan Hawkins, and Dorian and Rosalind Philpot.

In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by a wide circle of family members who loved her deeply. Her cherished cousins include Josh Lowery (DeeAnna), Katie Vaughn (Bryan) and Thea, Crystal Bowen, Christa Bowen (Steve), Brandon Smith (Kaitlyn), Dylan Smith (Ashlee) and Anna Katherine, as well as Tracy, Christi, Haley, and Teri. Her beloved uncles and aunts, Cindy Lowery, John Bowen, Lisa Smith (William), Diane Bowen, and Ronald Hawkins. And her extended Shelley family.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Janet Bowen, James and Mabel Hawkins; two uncles, Tim Bowen and Lowell Lowery; and a cousin, Erica Bowen.

The family sends out their love and deepest thanks to the amazing people at Vivian B. Adams School. We give thanks to the gracious Lord above for letting us have her this long.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 5:00pm in the Sunset Memorial Park Chapel with Bro. Aubrey Sullivan officiating. The family will receive friends an hour to the service.
