Martha Wallace

Feb 13, 1947 — Jul 9, 2026

Martha “Marty” Wallace, age 79, passed away on July 9, 2026. She was born on February 13, 1947, and lived a life marked by kindness, grace, and a warm spirit that touched everyone who knew her.

Marty was born in Newton and spent the early years of her life in Newton and Dothan. After graduating from high school, she went to work in civil service, where she built a strong reputation for responsibility and dedication. She later lived in Atlanta before returning to Dothan in the 1980s, where she continued to make her home and remain close to the people and places she loved.

Marty was a woman of deep faith and was a member of First Baptist Church Dothan. She enjoyed using her Charles Stanley Bible every Sunday and found comfort and strength in her time of worship. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided the way she cared for others with patience, compassion, and understanding.

Those who knew Marty will remember her as a good communicator who never met a stranger. She had a gift for conversation and a natural ability to make people feel welcome. She loved to tell stories and had a way of bringing laughter and warmth into any room. Her personality was bright and engaging, and she left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to spend time with her.

Marty also had a great love for beauty and style. She always made sure her hair was beautifully styled and her makeup was just right, taking great pride in her appearance. She loved jewelry, pretty clothes, and carrying herself with a sense of elegance that earned her the affectionate nickname of “Elizabeth Taylor” at the nursing home where she lived. Her sense of style was matched by her joyful spirit, and she presented herself with grace, confidence, and dignity every day.

Above all, Marty loved her family deeply. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Jon Michael Wallace and his wife Kristin Azhar Wallace, and Don Bradley Wallace. She treasured her grandchildren, Isabella Kristin Wallace, Emma Ainsley Wallace, and Jonathan Michael Treece, and her heart was especially full when she was with them. She loved her children dearly and was known for the big heart she carried for her family. She also loved her nieces and nephews and enjoyed the special bonds she shared with them throughout her life.

She is survived by her sons, Jon Michael Wallace (Kristin Azhar Wallace) and Don Bradley Wallace; her grandchildren, Isabella Kristin Wallace, Emma Ainsley Wallace, and Jonathan Michael Treece; her brothers, Jack McSween, Fred McSween (Sheila), Derryl McSween (Shirley), and Ronnie McSween (Sue); and her sister, Janice McSween Lee. She is also remembered with love by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.

Marty’s family and friends will remember her for her loving nature, her easy smile, and her ability to make others feel seen and valued. She enjoyed watching the shopping channel, loved sharing stories, and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her presence brought comfort and delight to those around her, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Her life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and family devotion. Though she will be deeply missed, the legacy of her kindness, her humor, and her generous spirit will remain a source of comfort to those who mourn her passing.

A celebration of Marty’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Wendell Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
