Martha Louise (Morgan) Moon

Martha Louise Moon, fondly known as Louise, departed this world on July 29, 2023, in Dothan, Alabama, following a brief illness. Born on November 23, 1930, in Stewart County, Georgia, she was the beloved daughter of the late Lugene and Hollie Godwin Morgan.

Louise was a woman of great intelligence and a heart full of love. She was adventurous and never shied away from embracing life's best moments. Her education was a testament to her intellectual curiosity. She achieved her Master's degree in Library Science from Auburn University, setting the stage for a fulfilling career at Wallace College. For 38 years, she served as a dedicated librarian, shaping the minds of countless students and fostering a love for knowledge.

Louise lived a life rich in relationships and experiences. She was predeceased by her siblings: JP Morgan, Coy Lee Morgan, Addie Lou Taylor, Annie Pearl Crockett, Clarence Morgan, Ethel M. Morgan, Ruby Nell Weed, and Lucille Styron. Her loving husband, John Comer Moon, was her partner in life for over 50 years. Today, she leaves behind two special nieces, Shirley Nelson and Jennifer Napier, many other nieces and nephews, and a host of friends, especially Lisa Turner and Lori Ashworth, who were always close to her heart.

An avid reader and gardener, Louise had a passion for cultivation, whether it was nurturing plants in her garden or cultivating minds through literature. She cherished her weekly meetings with her Wednesday group and rarely missed a game with her Rummikub group. Her zest for life and jovial spirit brought joy and warmth to those around her.

In the words of the renowned author, Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Louise embodied this sentiment, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered. Her generosity of spirit and unwavering kindness will not be forgotten.

The burial service will be officiated by Dr. Mark Turner at Gardens of Memory Cemetery on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 10:00am. A celebration of Louise's life will be held, honoring her legacy and cherishing the memories she left behind. Those wishing to honor Louise's memory may consider a memorial gift to the First Baptist Church Dothan, 300 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301, a place close to Louise's heart.

As we mourn the loss of our beloved Louise, we also celebrate the life she lived. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us. We will remember her as a dedicated librarian, a loving family member, and a loyal friend. Her life was a testament to the power of love, the pursuit of knowledge, and the joy of companionship. Today, we bid farewell to Louise, a beacon of light in our lives, knowing that her spirit will live on in our hearts, forever cherished and never forgotten.
