Marjorie Jenkins Smith (Jenkins) Blink

July 28, 1931 — July 14, 2023

Dothan

Marjorie Jenkins Smith Blink, a spirited, passionate, and adventurous woman, passed away on July 14, 2023, following a brief illness. Born on July 28, 1931, in Ozark, Alabama, Marjorie lived a full and vibrant life, impacting those around her with her fiery and strong personality.

The daughter of the late Ninnie Payne and Kelly Jenkins, Marjorie was a woman of great energy and persistence, which served her well throughout her successful career in the restaurant industry. She began her journey at the Holiday Inn in Ozark, Alabama, and later Clanton, Alabama. Marjorie retired as the Food and Beverage/Cafeteria Manager at Ebsco Corporation in Birmingham, Alabama, leaving a lasting legacy in her wake.

In her retirement, Marjorie returned to Dothan to be close to her family, including her half-sister Diane Donald of Dothan. She was mother to her daughters and son-in-law, Cheryl and Jimmy Brown of Skipperville, Alabama, and Susan Charlana Smith of West Point, Mississippi. Marjorie was predeceased by her son, Ronnie Leon Smith, and her half-sister, Wanoska Harben.

Marjorie was a proud grandmother to Kellie (John) Dingus of Panama City, Florida, Jacey Bochner of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Bart (Tina) Brown of Wake Forest, North Carolina. She also took great joy in her great-grandchildren Ella Rose Daube, Sarah Grace Dingus of Panama City, Florida, and Briston Brown of Wake Forest, North Carolina. Her family will remember her as a woman who was obstinate at times, but always the life of the party.

Outside of her work and family, Marjorie was known for her love of dance, often lighting up the dance floor at the American Legion in Ozark, Alabama. She was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where her passionate spirit was appreciated and admired. Marjorie had a flair for fashion and loved to dress up, always making a statement with her stylish outfits.

As the famous author Maya Angelou once said, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." Marjorie lived by this quote, showing us all how to live life to the fullest with her spirited and adventurous nature.
