SGM Lloyd Michael Rogers U.S. Army, Retired, age 90, died at Flowers Hospital on June 18, 2015. SGM Rogers was a Veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Main Post Chapel, Ft. Rucker, AL with Monsignor Patrick Gallagher officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Ft. Rucker Wounded Warriors or to Knights of Columbus c/o Pete West.
SGM Rogers was born May 19, 1925 in Red Bluff, CA and spent the early part of his life there. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943 at the age of 17. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1980 with over 30 years of service and continued to serve in Civil Service for an additional 12 years as an Education Specialist retiring again in 1992. He has resided in the Daleville area since 1973 and was a member of the Catholic Community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as the State Master of the 4th Degree, Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He was a charter member of the Wiregrass Sergeant Major Association and was a member of numerous other service organizations.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Billie Marie; his son, Lloyd Michael, Jr. Diane; grandsons, James Erica and Christopher Yadie; great-grandchildren, Cory, Christina, and Marlie; a special niece, LouAnne McLendon William; a brother-in-law, T.R. Gammons Mary John.
