Linda Prescott Precise

June 8, 1942 — May 7, 2026

Linda Prescott Precise passed away on May 7, 2026, at a local hospital in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 83.

Linda was born on June 8, 1942, in Huntington, West Virginia, where she lived during the early years of her life. She carried the values of her upbringing throughout her life and became a woman whose faith, kindness, and steady presence touched many people. She was faith-filled, friendly, and loving, and those who knew her will remember her as someone who brought joy wherever she went. Linda had a gracious spirit and a warm smile, and she was quite a lady in every sense of the word. She loved well and was well loved in return.

Linda built a meaningful life through hard work, devotion to her family, and service to her church and community. She worked with WDHN for several years in advertising and later with WTVY as General Manager, where she was respected for her professionalism and leadership. In later years, she worked with Joy FM Radio until her retirement. Her career reflected her dedication and her ability to connect with others, and she left a lasting impression on the many people with whom she worked.

A woman of deep faith, Linda was a devoted member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She taught Ladies Sunday School and Bible study groups, sharing her knowledge of Scripture and her love for the Lord with others. She also found a special way to encourage and inspire through her writing, including her book, Tears in His Bottle. Her faith was not only something she spoke about, but something she lived each day through her words, her actions, and her care for others.

Linda also cherished the simple pleasures of life and the friendships she made along the way. She especially enjoyed a Friday night game with some of her closest friends, often dining out and then playing cards together. These times were filled with laughter, companionship, and the kind of fellowship that made life richer. Her friends knew her as someone who valued loyalty, kindness, and shared moments that became treasured memories.

She is survived by her daughter, Christy (Daryl) Hawk; her son, Paul Clay; her step-sons, Randy (Teresa) Prescott, and Joey Prescott, by her step-daughter, Tammy (Stan) Danner; her grandchildren, Ryan Bowdoin, Lori (Chris) Lopez, Trina (Michael) Meadows, Jordan (Zackary) Brinkley, and Shelby (Sarah) Cecil; her 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Janet Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy Prescott and Joseph Precise, Sr., by her parents, Paul and Georgia Christine Rose, by her son, Don Clay, by her brother, Gary Rose and by her sister, Joy Allen Brown.

Linda’s family and friends will remember her for her faith, her loving heart, and the joy she brought to so many lives. Her legacy is one of devotion, kindness, and steadfast love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 2 pm on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Pastor Ray Jones officiating.
