Linda May Alexander

April 1, 1957 — January 13, 2026

Linda May Alexander, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, partner, and friend, passed away on January 13, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 68. Born on April 1, 1957, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Ruth Cramer, Linda's life was marked by her unwavering kindness, her love for her family, and her enduring faith.

Linda's journey was one of joy, laughter, and an abundance of love. She was a beacon of light to her significant other of 20 years, Gary Carter, and a pillar of strength and inspiration to her children, Heather Alexander (Dario), Matthew Alexander, and Elifaz Zambrano. She was the proud grandmother to Alison, Lisa, Matthew, Andrew, Rhiana, and Bryna, who will carry her legacy forward with fond memories and lessons learned from her gentle guidance.

Though Linda faced the profound losses of her mother, Ruth Cramer, her son, Gary Alexander, her daughter, Lisa Michelle Hallock and her siblings, Marie Beck, Thomas Nelson Hallock, Bryan Hallock, and Marsha Caddwalder, she continued to embody resilience and grace. Her sister, Bernice McNeil, her niece and nephew, Hilary and Wayne Wilkerson, and a host of cousins, remember Linda's infectious laughter and the way her presence made any room feel like home.

Linda's stepchildren, Wayne Carter, Vanessa Carter Pryor, and Mistel Carter, also held a special place in her heart. Together, they created cherished memories that will be treasured forever.

A dedicated employee at Mariott, Linda was loved by her coworkers for her sense of humor, her intelligence, and her beautiful soul. She was not only a hard worker but also a friend to many, known for her generosity and her ability to make everyone feel good. Her laughter was a common sound in the hallways, and her knack for joking around made even the longest shifts seem shorter.

Outside of work, Linda enjoyed going out to eat and shopping with her daughter Heather, activities that often led to spontaneous adventures and stories that would be retold for years to come. Linda's love for the color purple was more than a preference; it was an expression of her vibrant personality and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures.

Linda's faith played a central role in her life. A devoted member of Harvest Church, she loved Jesus with all her heart. Her spirituality was the compass by which she navigated life's challenges and celebrated its blessings. Linda's ability to find humor in the everyday, to see the good in people, and her remarkable intelligence were gifts she generously shared with her church community.

A talented pianist, Linda's music filled the halls of her home and the hearts of those who listened. Her playing was not just a hobby but a form of prayer and expression that touched the souls of many.

Linda May Alexander will be remembered as a woman who loved deeply, laughed heartily, and lived her life with an unwavering faith. Her memory will be a keepsake, from which her family and friends will never part. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were blessed to know her. Linda's life was a testament to the beauty of a soul that loved unconditionally, and her legacy will be cherished forever.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 2pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Broyles officiating. The family will receive friends an hour to the service. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
