Kent Hollis Brechin

Kent Hollis Brechin passed away on May 4, 2025, at the age of 61, in Dothan, Alabama. He was born on September 4, 1963, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late David and Emma Brechin.

Kent spent the majority of his professional life as a semi-truck driver, a career that allowed him to crisscross the country, meet people from all walks of life, and share stories from the road. His work was not just a job but a testament to his love for adventure and his commitment to the industry. Kent's colleagues in the transportation community will remember him as a reliable and skilled driver who always greeted them with a smile and a helping hand.

Outside of work, Kent was a man of many interests but was best known for his selfless and generous nature. He was the kind of person who was always there for others, offering support or a listening ear whenever needed. Kent had a heart full of dreams and plans, and though he may not have followed through on all of them, his zest for life and his desire to explore new possibilities were an inspiration to those around him.

Kent's legacy is one of love and devotion, particularly to his family. He is survived by his children, Donald "Donnie" Brechin (Brooklyne) and Lindsey Richardson (James), who will forever cherish the memories of their father. Kent's joy was multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Liam and Leslie Richardson, who brought him immense happiness and pride. He also leaves behind his brother, Kenny Brechin (Ellen), and sister, Katherine Sharich. He is also survived by many special friends, including Petty Shackleford, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Kent was preceded in death by his wife, Leslie Ruth Gothard Brechin. Together, they shared a journey filled with laughter, love, and mutual respect. He was also preceded in death by his parents, David Bryce and Emma Dorothy Hollis Brechin, who instilled in him the values of kindness and generosity that he carried with him throughout his life.

In honoring Kent's life, we reflect on the joy he brought into our lives and the lessons he taught us through his example. May we all strive to be as selfless and generous as he was, and may we hold onto the warmth of his memory as a guiding light through our own journeys. Rest in peace, Kent; your legacy will never be forgotten.
