Katrina Beck

Katrina Beck, passed away on July 8, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama, at the age of 53. She was born on July 24, 1972, in Alabama, and throughout her life she was known as a kind, friendly, and faith-filled woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her.

Katrina was the beloved daughter of Annie Lou Wright Lightner and the late Cleveland (R.C.) Devose. She was also deeply cherished by her mother-in-law, Mattie Lou Massey, and by her siblings, Clifford Jett, Brenda Lightner Patrick, and Linda Lightner. Family was at the center of Katrina’s life, and she carried her love for her relatives with grace, loyalty, and devotion. She leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, along with many good friends who will miss her dearly. She was also blessed with one special friend, Yolanda Rumph, whose friendship meant a great deal to her.

Katrina shared 38 beautiful years of marriage with her high school sweetheart, Matthew Beck. Their marriage was a lasting testament to love, commitment, and partnership, and together they built a family that was the pride and joy of her life. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother whose heart was fullest when surrounded by those she loved. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Ebony Keshawn Beck, Ivory Renae Beck, Azaria Ariana Beck Rivera (Miguel Rafael Rivera), and Matthew Beck Jr. She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren, Carlie Iviona King, Carmen Ariona King, and Jayce Anfernee Gutierrez, all of whom brought her great happiness and countless moments of joy.

Katrina was a woman of strong work ethic and dedication. She worked for 20 years at Westpoint Stevens in Abbeville, Alabama, where she was respected for her commitment and reliability. She also spent some time working at Laurel Oaks in Dothan, Alabama, where she served as a mental health tech. In every role she held, Katrina carried herself with compassion, professionalism, and a willingness to help others. Her work reflected the same steady character that defined her life, and she was admired by those who had the privilege of working beside her.

Beyond her family and career, Katrina found joy in singing gospel music. Her love for gospel songs was a reflection of her faith and the hope that guided her life. Those who knew Katrina will remember her for her warm smile, her caring heart, and her unwavering devotion to the people she loved. She had a way of making others feel welcome and valued, and her faithful nature left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the service, Katrina will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.
