Katherine Jane Trotter, affectionately known as Jane or Meme to her loved ones, passed away on March 24, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 77. Born on January 25, 1949, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Jane was the cherished daughter of the late Thurman and Violet Lofton and sister to the late Eddie Lofton. Her warm presence and boundless positivity were a beacon of light to all who knew her.
Jane's life was one of dedication, both to her family and her community. She was the devoted wife of George Trotter, and together they raised three wonderful sons, Stacey (Kim) Trotter, Jeremy (Kayla) Trotter, and Lucas (Kimberly) Trotter. Jane's role as a mother was only outshined by her joy in being a grandmother to her adored grandchildren, Abree (Matthew) Buie, Colton Trotter, Emerson Trotter, Lofton Trotter, Ashlyn Trotter, Paxton Trotter, Clayton Trotter, and Easton Trotter.
Jane was the glue that held her family together, and her enthusiasm for life was contagious. Jane was Everybody's Meme Trotter, always ready to engage in conversation, share a smile, or burst into laughter. She had a zest for life that was evident in everything she did, from cheering on her beloved LSU Tigers to teaching her grandchildren to drive and celebrating their achievements at school events and sports.
Her true calling was as a homemaker, a role she embraced with all her heart. Jane's home was always filled with love, laughter, and the mouthwatering aromas of her cooking, especially her famous gumbo and king cake during Mardi Gras. She also had a deep love for crafting and took great joy in making things by hand, often creating thoughtful and meaningful pieces for those she loved. Her culinary and creative talents were just some of the many ways she expressed her love for her family and friends.
Her adventurous spirit shone brightly when she won a fishing tournament alongside her grandson Colton, a memory that her family will treasure forever. Jane's love for her grandchildren knew no bounds, from spontaneous Sonic runs to the simple joy of spending time together and making lasting memories.
Jane's legacy is one of love, joy, and the power of positivity. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched. Jane's memory will be cherished, her stories retold, and her laughter will echo in the stories passed down through generations. As we bid farewell to Katherine Jane Trotter, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a life that will continue to inspire and guide us for years to come.
