Joyce Davis Johnson, age 91, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on May 14, 2026. She was born on May 17, 1934, in West Green, Georgia, and lived a long life marked by kindness, love, and steady devotion to the people and places she held dear.


Joyce was a woman whose gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. She was known for being kind and loving, and those qualities were reflected in the way she cared for her family, her friends, and her community. She carried herself with grace and warmth, and she made those around her feel valued and welcome. Her life was a quiet example of faithfulness, compassion, and strength.


She retired from working in civil service at Ft. Rucker, where she served with dedication and professionalism. Her work reflected her dependable nature and her willingness to help others. Joyce took pride in doing her part well, and she earned the respect of those who had the privilege of working alongside her. Her career was one more way she contributed meaningfully to the lives of others.


Joyce also enjoyed being involved in the Daleville Garden Club. She appreciated the beauty of the world around her and found joy in caring for things that grew. She had a green thumb and a special love for flowers, and her interest in gardening was a reflection of her patient and nurturing heart. Through this hobby and her community involvement, she shared her love of beauty and fellowship with others.


Family was central to Joyce’s life, and she treasured each member of her family deeply. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Johnson Adams, and her husband, Julian Bruce Adams; three grandchildren, Christopher Ryan Perry and his wife, Callie, Ashleigh Kristin Wuestenfeld and her husband, Andrew, and Julian Bruce Adams, Jr. and his wife, Sara; and great-grandchildren, Anderson Wuestenfeld, Aldrin Wuestenfeld, Julian B. Adams, III, Anelise Adams, Alaina Adams, Rhett Perry, and Shiloh Perry. She is also survived by her sister, Jimmie Alter, and her brother-in-law, Charles Crews . Her family will forever cherish her memory and the love she gave so freely.


She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Horace B. Johnson; her parents, Elijah and Ruby Davis; her sisters, JoAnn Crews, June Smith and her husband Johnny, and Jackie Davis; and her brother-in-law, Jack Alter. Their reunion is a comfort to those who mourn her passing and a reminder of the family bonds that remained important to her throughout her life.


Joyce Davis Johnson will be remembered for the warmth of her presence, the kindness of her heart, and the loving example she set for her family and friends. Her life was one of quiet dignity and enduring devotion, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.


A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 2pm at Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Goldsmith officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery next to her husband.
