Joe Wayne Price

June 29, 1941 — February 7, 2024

Dothan

Joe Wayne Price, affectionately known as Joe to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on June 29, 1941, in Grimes, Alabama, Joe's life was a testament to the values of generosity, selflessness, and love that he embodied throughout his 82 years.

Joe spent 64 years married to his beloved wife, Sharon Price, whom he met when he was just 17 years old. Together, they built a life filled with joy and laughter, welcoming their son, Mike Price (Catherine), and daughter, Tina Visintainer (Pat). Joe's legacy continued to flourish through his grandchildren, Lauren Price, Michael Price, Patrick Visintainer (Lacey), and Price Visintainer, who will always remember their grandfather's warmth and guidance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Esther Price, and his siblings, Eugene Price, Louise Marshall, Lois Buckhalt, Frances Ross, and John Price. Joe's memory will be cherished by his many loving nieces and nephews, who saw in him the embodiment of family devotion.

Joe dedicated 40 years to Sears, a role in which he exhibited exceptional leadership and work ethic until his retirement. His colleagues knew him as a man of integrity and diligence, traits that greatly contributed to his professional achievements.

Joe was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where he found solace and fellowship. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him.

An avid fisherman, Joe was renowned for frying the best fish, a skill he took great pride in sharing with family and friends. Those close to him will fondly recall the many afternoons spent at the lake, where Joe's expertise and patience were always on display. He was, in every sense, a rock-solid, simple man who found joy in life's uncomplicated pleasures.

Joe's character was marked by an innate generosity that extended beyond his immediate circle. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, a listening ear, or words of encouragement to anyone in need. His selfless nature was evident to all who knew him, and his loving demeanor made him a cherished presence in the lives of many.

In remembering Joe, one is reminded of the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Joe's life was a living embodiment of this sentiment, as he touched the hearts and lives of countless individuals through his kindness and unwavering spirit.

Joe Wayne Price's journey through life was marked by the love he shared, the lives he enriched, and the enduring impact he made on his community. As we bid farewell to a man of great virtue and tenderness, we celebrate the remarkable legacy he leaves behind. His memory will continue to inspire and comfort us, as we carry forward the lessons of compassion and humility he so gracefully taught by example. Joe's light will forever shine in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A celebration of Joe's life will be held at 2pm, February 10, 2024, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Rev. Jim Corley officiating. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church general fund, 1550 Parramore Road Dothan, Alabama 36303, in Joe's honor.
