Janice Cook Danford

Janice C. Danford, a beacon of kindness and gentleness, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, in Hartford, Alabama. Born on February 28, 1945, in Houston County, Alabama, Janice's life was a testament to the power of quiet strength and unwavering positivity.

Janice, fondly known as the sweet and smiling presence in any room, attended school in Columbia where she laid the foundations of a life marked by dedication and hard work. She carried these values into her career, contributing tirelessly to the teams at Sunnyland and Purdue Farms. Her work ethic and the respect she garnered from her colleagues were only matched by her kindness and thoughtfulness.

In her personal life, Janice's heart was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife to her late husband, Lester Danford, and a cherished mother to her sons, Terry Lynn Danford and Michael Wendell Danford, along with his wife Cindy. Janice's sisterly love remained a constant source of comfort and joy for her sisters, Joyce Brunson and Marion Jackson, as well as for the numerous nieces and nephews who looked up to her. Her family was her stronghold, and she nurtured these relationships with the same care and attention that she gave to all aspects of her life.

Janice's gentle spirit was deeply rooted in her faith, as a devout member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. She lived her beliefs through her actions, embodying the compassion and grace that she held so dear. Her faith was a guiding light, not only for her but for all who were blessed to know her.

Known for her love of simple pleasures, Janice had an affectionate attachment to her purse, which was always by her side, just as her smile never left her face. This small quirk was a reminder of the care she took in all things, and how she cherished the everyday moments that knit the tapestry of a well-lived life.

Though Janice's journey on earth has ended, her legacy of love and kindness endures. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Danford, by her parents, Odell and Ossie Lee Jackson Cook, by her brothers, Leo Cook, Foy Cook, Talmadge Cook, and Bay Cook, and by her sisters, Toye Hughes, Myrle Shirley, and Annette Layton. Their reunion in eternal peace is a comforting thought to all who mourn Janice's passing.

As we say goodbye to Janice C. Danford, we celebrate a life that was a true embodiment of goodness. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to have felt the warmth of her smile and the depth of her kindness. A graveside service will be held at 11am, Monday, June 30th at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Kenny Jackson officiating.
