James Patrick Glover, affectionately known by his family as Patrick and by friends as James, was a beacon of love and faith throughout his 29 years of life. Born on July 10, 1995, in Dothan, Alabama, to proud parents Kennith and Genice Glover, James's journey began in the same town he would later peacefully pass away in on June 18, 2025, following a brave battle with cancer.
Growing up in Dothan, James's early life was marked by the close-knit bonds he formed with his family. He shared a special bond with his sister, Britany Glover Stewart, her husband KJ Stewart, and their precious daughter Kenzlyn. His cousin Asia Glover held him especially close to her heart, alongside his special cousins Malvin and Billie Glover. James is also survived by his aunts Carol (James) Crawford, Glenza (Mance) Gary, Dianne Stevens, and uncles Jameson (Felicia) Glover, Ronald (Joyce) Barwick, and Jerome (Faye) James, as well as countless other cousins. They all knew him as a source of warmth and love. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, James and Evelyn Glover, Jake and Mary Barwick, his Uncle Cleveland Jones and his Aunt Mamie Durr, who had left a profound impact on his life.
As a 2014 graduate of Northview High School, James was known for his quick wit and boundless creativity. His professional journey led him to Michelin, where he excelled as a lead machine operator for four years. James was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, taking James 4:8 “Draw close to God and He will draw close to you.” as his guiding verse, drawing strength and comfort from his faith.
James's interests displayed his love for life and a passion for creativity. He was known for his loving outgoing personality, and his humor brought laughter to any room. James had many hobbies. He was an avid lover of games and anime, he also had a talent for making music and beats. His artistic side was shone through in his drawings and woodworking projects, and he had a special place in his heart for children, especially his niece Kenzlyn aka “Peanut”. James's enthusiasm extended to his love for cars, rifles, and the great outdoors. As a kid he was often found climbing trees with his cousins and sister.
James's big heart and keen mind were a testament to his character. He pursued his passions with vigor and was always willing to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need. His ability to uplift others, even during his illness, was a true display of his faith-filled and loving nature.
Most of all, James cherished his relationship with Jehovah. Throughout his battle with cancer, he remained steadfast, sharing the hope and comfort he found in God's word with those around him. His humor and warmth remained undiminished until the end, reminding those he loved to smile and keep faith.
Although James's time on earth was cut short, his legacy is one of strength, kindness, and humor. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. James's memory will live on as a beautiful soul who loved Jehovah more than anything, and his influence will continue to inspire those he left behind. We can’t wait to see him in paradise.
A celebration of James’s life will be held at 3:30pm on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home with Elder Chris Grubbs officiating.
