Henry "Jack" Jackson Sewell, Jr.

September 30, 1944 — September 6, 2025

Henry Jackson "Jack" Sewell, Jr., a cherished husband, father, and community pillar, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 80. Jack, was born on September 30, 1944, and his life was a testament to service, family, and faith.

Jack's formative years were spent in the loving company of his family, and his educational pursuits led him to Auburn University, where he earned a degree in pharmacy. This education paved the way for a lifelong career in healthcare, during which Jack's dedication to helping others was evident to all who knew him. His professional journey was marked by his tenure as the proud owner of Jack's Drugs, a local establishment that served the community with care and compassion.

Before embarking on his career in pharmacy, Jack answered the call to serve his country. Joining the US Army, he donned the uniform for two years, including a period spent in Korea. His military service was a source of great pride and instilled in him values that would guide his actions for the rest of his life.

Jack's interests and passions painted a picture of a man deeply committed to his community and the joy of life. He was a generous soul, always ready to lend a hand or support a cause. His love for golf provided not only personal enjoyment but also an avenue for fellowship and friendship. Auburn Football was another of Jack's passions, and he could often be found cheering on his favorite team with the same vigor he applied to all his endeavors.

A man of profound faith, Jack was an active member of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church. His commitment to his church was matched by his dedication to charity work. He participated in numerous mission trips to Honduras, embracing every opportunity to help those in need. These trips were a reflection of his generous spirit and his desire to make a positive impact on the world.

Beyond his service and interests, Jack found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved trips to the beach, with Destin, Florida, holding a special place in his heart. It was there that he could reflect, relax, and spend precious moments with his beloved family.

Jack's love story with his wife, Kathie Gail Sewell, spanned 53 years of marriage, a union filled with mutual respect, support, and deep affection. Together, they raised their daughter, Jacqueline, who inherited her father's love for numbers and attention to detail. Even the family's grand-dog, Buddy Sewell, was enveloped in Jack's love and care.

A celebration of Jack's life, complete with military honors, will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel.
