Dorothy Christine Barb

Dorothy Christine Chappell Davis Barb, 97 passed away July, 28 2023. She was a native of Dothan AL, but resided in Tyler, TX with her son and his wife for the last 10 years.

She was born in Dothan, AL August 15, 1925 to Robert Chappell and Dollie (Davis) Chappell. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Raymond Earl Chappell, Herman Chappell, Johnny Chappell (Maxine), Durwood Chappell (Arlene), sisters, Evelyn Chappell Cooley, Willie Pearl Chappell Hughes (John Glen), grandson, Thomas O'Berry and three great grandchildren. She is survived by her son, William C. Davis (Mary), daughters, Betty Jean Davis O'Berry (Bill) and Evelyn Marie Davis Machias (Eddie), sister, Faye Martin of Mississippi and loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Among survivors is her lifelong friend, Rudine Howell of Dothan, AL and friend, Maryanne Zuber of Dothan, AL.

Dorothy was a member of Memphis Baptist Church. Her favorite activities were crocheting and going to church. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Fail officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to your favorite charity in her name.
