Dominic (Don) Ralph Brindisi, 80, of Dothan, Alabama went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, January 17th. He was surrounded by family at his home at the time the Lord made the call and passed peacefully to be with him.
Dominic was born on July 5, 1941 in Passaic New Jersey to Francis (Frank) and Mary Brindisi. He was the first born of the three children including his brothers Joseph and Francis (Frank) Brindisi. During his youth, the family made a move to the Miami, Florida area where he would graduate from high school and ultimately meet the woman he would spend the rest of his life with.Upon high school graduation, Dominic enlisted in the Army and served three years including a tour in the Vietnam War. After discharge from the Army, he attended Miami-Dade Community College where he studied engineering and met the love of his life and future wife of 53 years Linda Hasenbein Brindisi. They would ultimately have eight children. His wife and children were always at the center of his life and he worked tirelessly as a telecommunications technician at GTE company for 25 years to support them. After retiring from GTE, the family relocated to Dothan, Alabama where he worked another 16 years as a telecommunications planner for Fort Rucker until he retired for good. Though family was everything to Don, his priority first and foremost was to serve the Lord and live according to His will the best he could. He taught and instilled that belief in all his children. He taught that honesty, integrity, and hard work were paramount and lead by example the best he could. Don was a man of many hobbies and dabbled in all sorts of things from model trains, to ham radio, to homebuilt aircraft. He was a lover of life, quick in wit, and always ready for a good joke. Don lived life according to his own rules and was never fearful to stand up for doing the right thing all the way up until the day he passed away. He was a husband; he was a brother; he was a father; he was a child of God. He will be missed by all.
Dominic is survived by his brothers Joseph and Francis Brindisi; his wife, Linda Brindisi; his eight children, Terry Passler (Patrick), Angela Kelley (Kip), Maryann Kenney (Shawn), Elizabeth Guernsey (Jeremey), Daniel Brindisi (Jennifer), Thomas Brindisi (Krystyn), Katie Marshall (Adam), and Mollie Brindisi; seventeen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
