Dolores Walker

March 23, 1938 — August 22, 2022

Dothan

Dolores Walker, 84, loving mother and caring grandmother, passed away on Monday, the twenty-second evening of August 2022 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. Surrounded and comforted by family, her beloved earthly angels, she was greeted by her Heavenly Father with open arms. Dolores was born in Brooklyn, New York on March twenty-third, 1938. Raised by her mother, Marie, and her father, Frank Tozzo, Dolores grew up alongside her two sisters, Angela and Annemarie. As a young, single mother, Dolores chose to sacrifice her time to ensure that her son and family's needs were satisfied.

In her early adulthood, Dolores worked for several different firms, such as IBM, U.S. Steel, and eventually, Equitable Life Insurance. In the early hours of the morning, hopping from train to ferry, and clacking her heels down the streets of the Big Apple, Dolores spent the fifties and sixties working, earning her respects along the way. Her unmatched work ethic and her larger-than-life personality led to her promotion as the first female supervisor.

Eventually, she rekindled her friendship with family-friend, James Walker at the notorious Thomas Street house party in 1977. They instantly fell in love, and since then, the two were inseparable. They were married on March 26, 1977, in Brooklyn, New York. Together, they lived life happily, dancing hand in hand along the streets of Staten Island, singing songs while filling the air with endless laughter and jokes. In the later years of their life, they relocated to Boca Raton, Florida, and began to help raise grandchildren.

Along with raising grandchildren, Dolores volunteered at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, missed many pins at the Don Carter Bowling Alley, made countless shopping trips to the Carnival Flea Market, and loved her weekly beauty parlor wash and sets. Most of all, Dolores treasured her traditional Sunday dinners that were notorious for ravioli and red sauce, the towering plates of chicken cutlets, and the infamous Entenmann's Crumb Cake. Nothing pleased her more than to be surrounded by the smiles and laughter of her beloved family and friends. Her fiery spirit and kindhearted soul will be greatly missed by many.

Although you are no longer here, we smile with comforted hearts knowing that you are once again joyously dancing, making many laugh and smile in the presence of the Heavenly Father.

Dolores is survived by her son, Bruce Morrison Sr., and his wife Kym Morrison; her six grandchildren, Phillip, David, Jennifer, Alexis, Bruce Jr., and Destin; and her four great-grandchildren, Austin, Weston, Kaitlyn, and Jayden.
