On the morning of August 30, 2022, Dolores Jean (Johnson) McLeod left this world peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at the Gwinnett Medical Center at the tender age of 79. Dolores was a loving, caring mother, wife, sister, and devoted grandmother. She was born to the late Christine and Charlie Johnson on March 10, 1943, in Illinois. She received her high school diploma from Lincoln Highschool in Forrest City, Arkansas, graduating class of 1961. She then attended Tennessee State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. She then met her soulmate, Dr. Jimmy Wallace McLeod, in Nashville, Tennessee, and they were united in Holy Matrimony for 42 years before his passing in 2011. From this union, they had two children, Brian and Kimberly.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her dedicated children, Brian (Marcia) McLeod and Kimberly McLeod (Gueric Doucet), eight grandchildren, Brittney, Blythe, Bianca, Alexis, Chase, Gavin, Mason, and Isabella, and eight great-grandchildren, Kaden, Kailee, Rylee, Elyse, Nya, Leah, Chloe, and Juia-Love, and sister-in-law, LaJospehia McLeod and, brothers-in-law, Neartis (Patricia) Clark; a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Christine and Charlie Johnson; father and mother-in-law, L.O and Ruth McLeod; sister, Julia Black; brothers, Joseph Beasley Jr., Leon Clark, and Clayton Johnson.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Saint Columba Catholic Church with Father Jim Dane. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4 pm to 6 pm, with a prayer service beginning at 6 pm.
