David Joseph McCarron

May 5, 1942 — March 11, 2026

David Joseph McCarron, affectionately known as David to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on May 5, 1942, in the lush countryside of Ireland, David's journey led him across the ocean to a life full of love, family, and service. His departure from this world leaves behind a legacy of kindness and an unwavering faith that touched the lives of many.

David's story began in Ireland, but his adventurous spirit brought him to the United States at the tender age of 16. He settled in New York, where he completed his high school education, marking the start of a lifetime of perseverance and hard work. His path led him to Transit System Path, New Jersey, and eventually to Texas, where he served as a facility coordinator for Sacred Heart. His entrepreneurial spirit later shone bright in Virginia, where he opened and operated his own successful HVAC business, Temperature Tamers, showcasing his remarkable skills as a handyman and his ability to master the trade.

His love for nature was evident to all who knew him. David found joy in the simplicity of birdsong, the tranquility of fishing, and the adventure of camping with his children. His hands were rarely still, as he was always tinkering, fixing, or improving something, earning him the reputation of a true jack of all trades.

A devout Catholic, David's faith was the cornerstone of his existence. He lived his life as a testament to his beliefs, exuding kindness and compassion at every turn. His faith-filled presence was a comfort and inspiration to those around him. Two months prior to his passing, David made his final move to Dothan in order to be cared for by his family.

David's legacy is carried on by his devoted wife of 33 years, Claire McCarron, and their children, Anne Liptak (AJ), Therese Brown, Bernadette Kincheloe (Patrick), Mary Heisler (Timothy), Margaret Asselin (Cliff), Catherine McCarron, Rose Simpson (James), David McCarron, Jr., John Paul McCarron (Anna), Jacinta Sherman, Joseph McCarron, and Dolores Jordan. He was a proud grandfather to Thomas, Katie, Sean, Mara, Abbey, Mac, Denise, Ian, Kolbe, Marie, Ailish, Gabby, Kylie, Casey, Nathan, Kayla, Alina, Teagan, Logan, Noah, Ryan, Dylan, Devyn, Nolan, Ronin, Sagan, Cole, and Luke, and a great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren.

David is also survived by his brothers, Aiden and Brenden McCarron, and sisters, Anne Ward and Betty Blanchard. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Nora McCarron, and sister, Frances Reilly. Each family member carries a piece of David's heart and spirit within them.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 11am at Saint Columba Catholic Church with Father Jim officiating. David will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.
