“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. David Glenn Beaty, a man of profound faith and boundless generosity, completed his earthly journey and entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 24, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on January 12, 1951 to Jewel Faulk (Reverend Mark Faulk) and Joe Beaty, David’s life was one of adventure, accomplishment, struggle, resilience, and as he would say “God’s grace”, which he humbly recognized as the guiding force through all his achievements and trials.
David grew up imbued with a sense of duty and service, which led him to graduate from Barbour County High School and proudly serve his country in the United States Navy. His thirst for knowledge and excellence in academia shone brightly as he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Troy University, majoring in Chemistry and earning membership in the esteemed Phi Beta Kappa. His passion for learning continued as he later pursued and obtained a degree in Theology, further deepening his commitment to his faith.
Professionally, David dedicated many years to the Farley Nuclear Plant, where he retired as a respected Plant Chemist. His work ethic and expertise were only matched by his willingness to mentor others and share his knowledge with grace and humility.
Beyond his professional life, David was a devoted family man. He was the beloved husband of Sharon, and together, they nurtured a family filled with love and respect. He was the proud father of David Seth Beaty and Jared Glenn (wife Kelli) Beaty. David's heart swelled with love for his grandchildren William Miles Beaty, Eleanor Beaty, James Jackson, Alyssa Jackson, and Bailey Jackson. David’s siblings, Gail Beaty and Tom Beaty, his sisters-in-law, Shirley Hartzog, Cynthia Hays, and Sandy Faulk, his nieces and nephews, Jackie (Dan) Quincey, Julie (Shane) Timmons, Val Theis, Michael Hays, Phillip Enabnit, Bryan Enabnit, Bret Enabnit, Daniel Faulk, and Stephen Faulk held a very special place in his heart. His role as Grandpa extended beyond his own kin, touching the lives of many children, some of whom are now adults, who remember him fondly for his warmth and kindness. David was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Faulk and by his brother-in-law, Nigel Hartzog.
David's interests and involvement in his community reflected his deep-seated values. His love for fishing, playing guitar, and enjoying a variety of music were matched by his dedication to serving others. He was a guiding force in his men's Bible study group, and served in Congregational Care and the Benevolence Missions Ministry at Harvest Church. His selfless service and thoughtful nature impacted countless lives, leaving a legacy of compassion and kindness.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Harvest Church with Pastor Ralph Sigler officiating. David will be laid to rest with military honors at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 4-6 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in David’s honor to Harvest Church Benevolence/Missions or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A man of many words that uplifted and inspired, David was best described as faith-filled, thoughtful, and generous. His spirit of giving and wisdom will be profoundly missed by his loving family, and the wider community, all of whom he held dear and supported with unwavering love.
