Dr. Daniel Peter Alexander, known affectionately as Dan, passed away on January 25, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama. Born on January 31, 1970, in San Francisco, California, Dan's journey through life was marked by a relentless pursuit of knowledge, a deep love for his family, and an adventurous spirit that inspired everyone around him.
Dan's early years in San Francisco set the stage for a life of discovery and passion. His intelligence and generosity shone brightly, traits that would become the cornerstones of his character. After excelling in his studies, he attended Cornell University, where he earned his bachelor's degree, and later, St. George's Medical School, which set him on the path to becoming a Pediatric Specialist.
His career was as remarkable as it was impactful. After leaving the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, Dan moved to Donalsonville, Georgia, where he not only found his calling in pediatrics but also met the love of his life, Dr. Andrea "Andi" Alexander. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and shared dedication to their patients and community.
Dan is survived by his wife, Dr. Andi Alexander; his children, Nico Waddell, Hayes Waddell, Ellie Alexander, Drew Alexander, and Kaitlyn Alexander; his mother, Carole Alexander; his father, Walter Alexander (Phoebe); his step-father, Elliott Webb and his sister, Jen Alexander. Each family member was a precious chapter in Dan's book of life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Athletic and sociable, Dan's interests were varied and full of life. He was an avid lacrosse player in college, a testament to his competitive nature and team spirit. His love for sports extended to tennis and snowboarding, activities that reflected his thrill-seeking personality and strength. But it was his philosophy, "where there is a will, there is a way," that truly defined Dan's approach to life's challenges.
Dan's family, friends, and colleagues knew him as a man who could always be counted on. His caring nature was matched only by his confidence and strength. Detail-oriented in his work, he saved lives with precision and dignity.
Intelligent, kind, and a master strategist, Dan lived a life that was full of purpose and joy. His legacy is one of unwavering commitment to his family, his patients, and his friends.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
