Charles Arthur Zeron

Charles Arthur Zeron, born on February 24, 1940, in New York, passed away on April 27, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama.

Charles was known for his warm personality, sense of humor, and kind heart. He enjoyed making others laugh and was respected for his dependable nature and the care he showed to family and friends.

He spent his early years working in wholesale hardware sales and later worked at Lewis M. Carter Manufacturing. He was known for his strong work ethic and straightforward manner. Charles also served as an electrician on U.S. Navy destroyers, serving his country with skill and dedication.

Faith was an important part of his life. He attended Highland Park United Methodist Church and later became a member of Covenant Methodist Church, where he valued fellowship and community.

Charles enjoyed bass fishing, working in his yard, and spending time at home with his family. He appreciated the simple things in life and found joy in everyday moments.

One of the most important parts of Charles's life began when he moved to Fort Benning with his family and met the love of his life, Mary Zeron. They were married on December 25, 1964, and shared 61 years of marriage together.

Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Zeron; his daughter, Rene Zeron Finley (Jeff); his son, Bryan Zeron (Anne); and his grandchildren, Zeron Rose Finley, Mary Blake Zeron, and George Zeron. He is also survived by his sister, Cyndee Zeron; his brothers, Richard Zeron (Ann) and Billy Zeron (Dana); his sister-in-law, Faye Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Thelma Zeron; his brother, Neal; and his sisters, Beverly Upell and Patricia Warren.

A celebration of Charles's life will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be rendered following the service.
