Carolyn Delores Osgood

Mar 19, 1941 — Sep 18, 2026

Carolyn Delores Osgood, passed away on September 18, 2026, in Ozark, Alabama, at the age of 85.

Born on March 19, 1941, in Johnson City, Tennessee, Carolyn spent the early years of her life in the place she always called home in her heart. She carried the values of her upbringing throughout her life and was known as a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her life was marked by kindness, generosity, and a gentle spirit that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Carolyn was a homemaker, and she embraced that role with love and dedication. Later in life, she worked at a nursing home, where she enjoyed caring for the residents and showing them compassion and respect. She had a tender heart and a natural gift for making others feel valued, and her presence brought comfort to many. She was the kind of person who always thought of everybody else before herself, and that selfless nature was one of the many ways she reflected the love she carried within her.

She was a loving mother to her son, John Osgood and his wife Patricia, and her daughter, Lisa Carter and her husband Patrick. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Joshua Carter, Tiffiny (Curtis) Suggs, Joseph (Ashley) Carter, Samuel Osgood, and Daniel Osgood. Her joy only grew with the blessing of her great-grandchildren, Riley Carter, Christian Carter, Kaylee Carter, and Beau Suggs. She is also survived by her brothers, Douglas (Ramona) King, David (Brenda) King, Richard (Dorothy) King, and Gary King, as well as several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, and she will be laid to rest beside him, a fitting reunion for a love that remained steadfast through the years.

Carolyn found joy in the simple, meaningful things of life. She loved sending birthday cards and remembering anniversaries, always making sure others felt remembered and appreciated. She loved to cook for her family, especially during Thanksgiving, when her home and table reflected her warmth and care. She especially loved her grandchildren and took great delight in spending time with them. She was rarely content to sit still, always moving with purpose and energy, she especially loved to walk to the chicken coupe to tend to her chickens everyday.

Faith was an important part of Carolyn’s life. She attended Grace Baptist Church and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Her faith was a source of comfort and guidance, and she lived her beliefs through the way she treated others. Carolyn also enjoyed reading her Bible and growing deeper in her faith. She was loving, faith-filled, and generous, and these qualities shaped the life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind. One of Carolyn’s favorite ministries was to put a Salvation Track into no postage return envelopes in order to spread the word of God.

Carolyn resided in Sanford, Florida, before moving to Ozark, Alabama. Her family and friends will remember her for her kind heart, her steady presence, and the love she shared so freely.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Crosby officiating. Carolyn will be laid to rest next to her husband in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Carolyn K. Osgood will be remembered as a woman who loved deeply, gave generously, and lived faithfully. Her life was a blessing to her family, her church, and all who knew her, and her memory will remain a source of comfort and love for years to come.
