Arnold Parham, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, coach, mentor, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 67. Arnold, known for his generosity of spirit and infectious humor, leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication to his family and community.
Born on January 13, 1958, Arnold grew into a man of formidable character and kindness. His life was a testament to the power of hard work and the importance of family. Arnold's loving wife of 49 years, Ophelia, stood by his side as a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including sons Karrico Parham (Monifa) and Jarmaine Corand (Jazmine), and daughters Marquita Springfield (Torey Oliver). Arnold's joy was multiplied by the laughter and warmth of his five grandchildren, Larisha Jones and Laquita Jones, among others who will miss their grandfather dearly.
Arnold's dedication to his country was evident in his over 10 years of service in the US Army, from which he medically retired. His passion for sports and commitment to youth development shined through his many years as a beloved basketball coach at Wiregrass Park. His influence extended to the track, where he taught and mentored students at Northview High School, Northside Methodist, Providence Christian School, and Dothan High School. Arnold's skills and discipline were further demonstrated as an instructor of Hapkido, where he earned the respected rank of a 3rd-degree black belt.
Professionally, Arnold was an exemplary Air Frame Mechanic, employed at US Helicopter and Pemco Aerospace. His expertise and work ethic were unmatched, and his ability to fix nearly any car made him the go-to mechanic in his circle. Arnold was a man who worked tirelessly, not just for the sake of work, but to provide for the family he so dearly loved.
Beyond his professional and athletic pursuits, Arnold's true nature was best seen in his everyday interactions. He was the funny guy who could light up a room, the helpful person who wouldn't hesitate to assist someone in need, even if it meant giving them the shirt off his back. Arnold was the epitome of a family man and hard worker, always ensuring that those he loved were well taken care of.
Arnold's generosity extended beyond his immediate family to his nieces, nephews, and the countless friends and community members whose lives he touched.
