Nellie (Metcalf) Williams

Mrs. Nell Williams went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 15, 2024. Nell was born on October 29, 1934 to the late Willie Pitt and Frances Florene Metcalf. She lived her early life in Slocomb, Alabama. Nell attended Slocomb schools where she met the love of her life, Wallace Williams who she married on October 16, 1954. She went to Wallace Community College where she got her degree in accounting. Nell worked at Coca Cola Bottling Company, Houston Paper Company, Southeast Alabama Gas District and then she retired from Sony as a payroll clerk. She worshipped with Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 2:00 pm in Sunset Memorial Park Chapel with Rev. Ray Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.

Nell enjoyed spending time and cooking for her family. She and her beloved husband loved to go fishing and traveling to the mountains every fall to see the changing of the colors. They would have a fish fry with all the trimmings for their family. They made so many wonderful memories together. She also enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting and making all kinds of ornaments to share with her family and friends. Nell enjoyed reading her Bible every day and loved her Lord and Savior.

Nell was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wallace Williams of 67 ½ years; her parents, Willie Pitt Metcalf and Frances Florene Metcalf; her sisters, Willie Dell Savelle and Mary Catherine Singletary; and her brother, James Sorrells Metcalf.

Nell is survived by her two daughters, Melinda (Danny) Robbins and Joan (Randy) Anderson; her grandchildren, Justin (Katie) Givens, Amber (Austin) Hill and Chris (Michelle) Kilgore; her four great-grandchildren, Michael Chancey, Charlie Givens, Lucas Givens and Izzie Kilgore; her three sisters, Hattie Jackola, Patsy Metcalf and Martha Cox; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Givens, Austin Hill, Doug Haywood, Jamie Williams, Mark Williams and Andrew Cook. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Chancey.

Flowers will be accepted or you can make a donation in her memory to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1231 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL 36301 or Gentiva Hospice, 2431 West Main Street #1102, Dothan, AL 36301.

The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Kaitlin, Charissa and Cassidy from Gentiva Hospice.
