James E. Quattlebaum

James Edward Quattlebaum, affectionately known as Ed, passed away on November 16, 2023, in Malvern, Alabama, after a prolonged illness. Born on March 20, 1930, in Dale County, Alabama, Ed lived a life of service, passion, and faith, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide many.

Ed was a loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Margaret Brannon Quattlebaum, and their eight children: Pete (Pearl) Quattlebaum, Hayward (Malinda) Quattlebaum, Kenneth (Paula) Quattlebaum, Dennis Quattlebaum, Billy (Sylvia) Quattlebaum, Linda Wambles, Brenda Quattlebaum, and Wanda (Mark) Fore. His memory will also be cherished by his 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. The love and unity of this large family are a testament to the values James held dear.

Ed was a man of faith who dedicated his life to serving others. His passion for spreading the Gospel led him to a life of ministry, and he led several churches throughout the Wiregrass Area. He was a regular attendee of Eddins Road Pentecostal Ministries. Ed was known for his servant's heart, always ready to help those in need and guide them towards God. His generosity was boundless, and he never met a stranger he did not offer kindness to.

Outside his ministry, Ed had a deep love for music, specifically Blue Grass Gospel, and could play most any instrument without ever having had a lesson. The fiddle, guitar, piano, and the mandolin were among some of his favorites. His love for gardening was well known among his family and friends, as he spent many hours tending to peas, beans, cucumbers, watermelons, and pumpkins in his garden. Ed was also a passionate sports fan, with a particular fondness for Auburn Football. He enjoyed watching football, baseball, basketball, golf, and any other sport, always eager to cheer on his favorite teams.

A celebration of Ed's life will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Shirley Hatcher officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Helicopter Pavilion. Friends and family are invited to gather at the funeral home from 2-3 pm to share memories and pay their respects. Ed was a man of deep faith, generosity, and passion. His impact on his community and his family will not be forgotten. His life serves as a reminder of the power of love, service, and faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
