Obituary

Margaret Florence Nicholson Ream went home to Jesus on December 3, 2017, in Dothan, Alabama.  She was 86.

Margaret was born in Orlando, Florida, on January 19, 1931 to Donald J. and Florence Vann Nicholson.  She was a graduate of Orlando High School, and attended Florida State College for Women and the University of Florida.  She was a Chi Omega.  Margaret married James H. Ream in 1954.  She served as a candy striper, Junior League member and sustainer, PTA president, and Orlando civic board member.  Margaret was a member of Downtown Baptist Church in Orlando, serving in the nursery and as a New Wind youth sponsor.  She later joined Pinckard Baptist Church in Alabama.  Although she left Orlando later in life to be with her children, Margaret’s heart was always in Orlando with her life-long friends.

Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who leaves behind a legacy of love and thoughtfulness.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister June N. Hedrick, and her granddaughter Joy.  She is survived by a daughter Lisa (Jerry) Lonidier of Newton, Alabama, a son James B. (Tammy) Ream of Newton, Alabama, grandchildren Lauren (Cody) Gilbertson, Jessica (Lance) Washington, Jason (Kayla) Ream, Ian Leonard, Rebecca (Joey) Perdue, and Matthew (Caroline) Leonard, three great-grandchildren, and several nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 9, at Pinckard Baptist Church, 1312 E. Alabama Hwy 134, Pinckard, Alabama.  The family will receive visitors at the church at 1:00.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to the ALS Association, 300 Cahaba Park Circle, Birmingham, AL 35242.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Westside Terrace and Covenant Hospice for their excellent, compassionate care.
