Kenneth Seals Obituary

Mr. Kenneth Lee Seal, age 69, of Ozark, Alabama passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 23,2022 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Sunset Memorial Park; 1700 Barrington Road, Midland City, Alabama 36350 with burial immediately following at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

In the spring of 1952 -April 15th to be exact - in the city of McComb, Mississippi, the late Dec. Davis and Mrs. Mary Seals welcomed a new addition to the family, Kenneth Lee Seals. Kenneth was the seventh child and sixth male born into the family. He was reared in a Christian home by loving parents in Summit, Mississippi.

Kenneth was a 1972 graduate of Higgins High School in McComb, Mississippi. In 1976, he joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1979. He was also a member of the Army Reserve and the Alabama National Guard, completing 20 years of service. While serving actively, he was awarded the Expert Qualification Badge for M-16 and Hand Grenade. In the National Guard, he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal in 2005 for Superior Humanitarian Relief during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina; as well as for outstanding duty performance as the Administrator Supply Point Non-Commissioned Officer, in 2007, just to name a few. Kenneth had several jobs after being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army but his dream job was being a Civil Service employee. He retired from that position after 20 years of service.

Kenneth was a sports enthusiast, so much that he became a member of the Southeast Alabama Basketball Association, where he served as an official and clock operator.

In 1992, Kenneth married Barbara Poke and to this union two daughters were born, joining older sister: Rashanda and brother: Kenneth. Kenneth was baptized at St. John Baptist Church in Mississippi and professed his salvation at an early age. Later, the family moved their membership to Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. While attending church with his family, he heard a soul stirring sermon by Elder Roy Crawley and recommitted his life to the Lord and joined Restoration Church of God by Faith in Ashford, Alabama. He loved sharing the good news of Jesus with others. He enjoyed those "iron sharpen iron" conversations with fellow believers.

In 2009, he was ordained as a Deacon of the Restoration Church of God by Faith. He served faithfully in that position as well as other capacities in the church until his health failed.

On April 13, 2022, Kenneth transitioned into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents: Davis Seals, Sr. and Mary Seals; sister: Luverne Dickerson; and brother Davis Seals, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife: Barbara Seals; children: Rashanda (Terrance) McKnight, Kenneth Jones, Mary Seals, and Adrianna Seals; grandchildren: Jasmine Faust, Braxton and Ashton-Bryce Jones and De'Angelo Boyd, Jr.; great grandchildren: Riley Mallery and McKenzie Hughes; sister: Patricia (Faga) Samdumu; brother: John (Nancy) Seals, James (Cynthia) Seals, Frank (Walternia) Seals, Verris (Gwen) Seals, Willie Seals, Samuel (Angela) Seals, Raynard Seals, Alphonso Seals, and Geoffrey Seals; sister-in-law: Teresa Poke; brothers-in-law: Don Poke, Felix Poke, and Charles Poke. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
