Anice Camp Obituary

Anice Cameron Camp, a beacon of strength and compassion, passed away on March 16, 2024, after an extended illness. She was born on May 15, 1949, in Pensacola, Florida, and after a full and vibrant life, she departed peacefully in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 74. Anice, known for her courage and intelligence, touched the lives of many with her selfless nature and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Anice spent her formative years in Pensacola before moving to the Dothan area in 1991, where she became a well-respected member of the community. Her professional journey was marked by a successful career with WDHN in advertising and sales, and she later became a co-owner of Primetime Clocks, a business she was passionate about until selling her interest in 2008. Her work ethic and dedication to her profession were admired by her colleagues and served as an inspiration to those who had the pleasure of working alongside her.

Her creative spirit shone brightly through her love of sewing. Anice's remarkable talent was showcased in the costumes she crafted for the Carroll High School Drama Department and for the Southeast Alabama Community Theatre (SEACT) in Dothan, where her handiwork brought countless productions to life.

Family was the cornerstone of Anice's world. She leaves behind her loving husband, Tommy Thompson, and her cherished children, Fred (Beth) Barkett, Phillip (Maegan) Thompson, Ann Barkett-Delgado, Celeste Barkett Killpack, and Ashleigh (Shaun) Funk. Anice's legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Cameron Barkett, Price Barkett, Isaac Delgado, Grant Killpack, Bradley (Daphne) Killpack, Griffin Killpack, Marshall Thompson, and Mason Funk, who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Anice was a beloved sister to Augusta Camp Brown, Myra Ellisor, Virginia Norton, Glenda Stone, Linda Weberman, Nancy McMahan, Janice Camp, Dee Dee Roed, Phyllis Love-Segers, and Carmen Wentzel. Her warmth and guidance will be profoundly missed by her sisters, as well as by her numerous nieces and nephews who were fortunate to experience her nurturing presence.

Those who knew Anice describe her as progressive, tough, and compassionate. She was a woman who faced life's challenges with courage and grace, and who gave herself selflessly to the well-being of others. As Helen Keller once said, "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved." Anice embodied this sentiment, living a life marked by character, ambition, and many successes.

A celebration of Anice's remarkable life will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories of Anice at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-2 pm, an hour before the service.

Anice Cameron Camp's story is one of love, dedication, and resilience. Her influence will continue to be felt by those she leaves behind, and her memory will be treasured forever.
